15 Great TV Shows That You Wish Were on Netflix

Moviefone
August 2, 2018 - 1 min read

It's hard to Netflix and chill when some of your favorite shows, like "Buffy" and "Game of Thrones," aren't available to stream. Here are some of the shows we so wish we could watch right now, if only they were on Netflix.

'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' (1997 - 2003)

It was a dark, dark day indeed when all Joss Whedon shows, including our beloved Buffy, were yanked from Netflix streaming. Makes you wonder what Big Bad was behind it all! (If it's a matter of money, pay that man whatever he wants!)

'Game of Thrones' (2011 - Present)

Let's get real: HBO has its own streaming service (HBOGo), but wouldn't it be nice if you could spend some quality time with the Starks, Jon Snow,  and the dragons without an extra subscription? (Maybe the Lannisters can afford that.)

'Xena: Warrior Princess' (1995 - 2001)

Want to see more kick-butt women after watching "Wonder Woman"? If you want to catch Xena in action, you'll have to get Hulu or pay per episode over at Amazon.

'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' (1990 - 1996)

Back before Will Smith was a bona fide movie star, he was busy making the '90s (and all of Los Angeles) very, very fresh. Netflix without this show? Not so fresh.

'SpongeBob SquarePants' (1999 - Present)

When you want a hit of SpongeBob optimism and Patrick silliness, it would be nice to dial up some awesomeness under the sea whenever you felt like it.

'ER' (1994 - 2009)

Before there was "Grey's Anatomy," there was this adrenaline-pumping medical ensemble with George Clooney as the dreamy doc Doug Ross. The eps hold up surprisingly well, or at least so we're told by people who own the DVDs. You can watch this great series now on Hulu.

'Scrubs' (2001 - 2010)

Most medical shows are so damn serious. So "Scrubs" was a breath of hilarious fresh air. In fact, we could use a dose right about now.

'The Americans' (2013 - 2018)

Rooting for Russian spies to destroy the U.S.? Unthinkable! And yet this gripping show makes us do just that. Is it a conspiracy that it's not on Netflix? The series recently wrapped its run in May 2018, and fans were treated to one hell of a finale.

'South Park' (1997 - Present)

Want to watch Kenny get killed over and over in creative ways? Sorry, your favorite foul-mouthed kids aren't on Netflix.

'Bob's Burgers' (2011 - Present)

Until recently, you could watch as much of this animated hit as often as you liked. Can we put "Bob's Burgers" back on the Netflix menu, please?

'Sex and the City' (1998 - 2004)

As Carrie Bradshaw once wrote, "No one has 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and no one has 'Affairs to .'" Add, "No one can watch 'Sex and the City' on Netflix." Because our favorite New Yorkers and their dating escapades aren't there, sorry.

'The Big Bang Theory' (2006 - Present)

Sheldon or Leonard could probably spin some cosmic theory about why you can't watch their show on Netflix, even though it's really about plain old licensing.

'Angel' (1999 - 2004)

when Cordelia got sucked into that alternate universe where she became queen? Maybe "Angel" is streaming there on Netflix... if that had TVs and Internet, that is.

'Firefly' (2002)

It's not enough that this beloved Joss Whedon cult show only lived one season, but then it got pulled along with all his other shows from Netflix. Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal, uh, Powers That Be.

'Justified' (2010 - 2015)

Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) was a badass U.S. Marshal with some formidable enemies in this modern western. Those of you who watched still miss and those of you who didn't should absolutely catch up with it -- if only you could stream it on Netflix!
