Margot Robbie in Talks to Play Sharon Tate for Quentin Tarantino
It looks like Quentin Tarantino's new movie.
While her name has been Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." Tarantino has been adamant that the flick is not a Charles Manson movie, per se (Tate was murdered by of the Manson Family), but it does revolve around the time that his horrific crimes took place.
The movie is centered around two men: former western star Rick Dalton (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (played by Brad Pitt). Tarantino previously said that the film "takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood," and features Rick and Cliff "struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don't recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor...Sharon Tate."
Robbie is a great choice for the part, since she's proven she's a chameleon in front of the camera, effortlessly transforming herself into characters both fictional (Harley Quinn in "Suicide Squad") and real (disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding in last year's "I, Tonya," for which she earned her first Oscar nomination). We look forward to seeing how she portrays Tate, another accomplished young actress who was making waves in Hollywood before her untimely death.
"Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" is currently slated for release on August 9, 2019 -- the 50th anniversary of Tate's murder.
