That was quick.

Jake Gyllenhaal (per Variety).

The original film, which won the world cinema audience award at Sundance, follows a police officer who is demoted to desk work at an emergency call center. One night he receives a call from a woman claiming to be kidnapped and things get even crazier from there. It’s a classically styled single-location thriller that has kept audiences around the world on the edge of their seats, so it makes sense that a slick Hollywood remake is in the works.

Gyllenhaal and Riva Marker are producing through their Nine Stories shingle, alongside the team from Bold Films. Original co-writer/director Gustav Möller (who I met at Fantastic Fest and seems like a really nice guy) and original producer Lina Flint, will be executive producing.

Gyllenhaal is about to have a very big year, thanks to high profile roles in Wildlife”) and big-budget studio fare (like sci-fi extravaganza “Life”). We’re excited.
