'Fifty Shades of Grey' Stars Are Seeking Big Raises for Sequel
The cost of entry to the Red Room of Pain might get a LOT higher.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dakota Johnson are asking for hefty raises to film the sequels. The publication's sources say the actors each received $250,000 for the first movie, and signed three-picture deals. But now that "Fifty Shades" is such a big box-office hit - generating $528 million worldwide - Dornan and Johnson want to renegotiate their salaries for "Fifty Shades Darker" and "Fifty Shades Freed."
It's not unusual for stars of blockbuster franchises to ask, and get, more money; that was the case for both "Twilight" and "Hunger Games."
And with both the first movie's director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, and writer, Kelly Marcel, not expected to return for the sequels, Universal will likely do what it takes to keep some of the magic-making team together.
